The Museum Foundation:

The dream of many Artesia and area residents was fulfilled when the Artesia Historical Museum & Art Center first opened its doors. Two notable events made this a dream a reality:

1) In 1968 the S.S. Ward estate generously provided the museum’s quarters, and
2) Artesia’s Mayor and City Council provided support for the venture.

Today, the Museum’s excellent and varied collections attest to the community’s generosity and commitment to preserving our heritage. The Museum’s growth and expansion has continued with the firm backing of the City of Artesia.

By 1982, the Museum’s continuous growth had generated a need for greater financial flexibility, and so the Artesia Historical Museum & Art Center Foundation was established as a tax-exempt organization, so that those who wish to make a gift directly to the Museum by way of endowment, testamentary gift, memorial contribution or the like may do so with the knowledge that their gift will be administered by a permanent foundation. Gifts are used to sponsor special events such as our Living Treasures awards ceremony, the Russell Floore Memorial Art Show, traveling exhibits, and other historic preservation projects for the benefit and enjoyment of the entire community.

Tax-exempt gifts are an important consideration in estate planning. If you are interested in making a contribution towards preserving our community’s heritage, please consider making a gift to the Artesia Historical Museum & Art Center Foundation. Contact your attorney, banker, or financial planner for advice on how you might aid the Foundation and help to preserve the past for future generations to enjoy.
